Taking Notes & Organizing your information
Taking notes should be more than just copying common facts or ideas from others. In addition to the notes you take from sources such as books, websites and videos, you should add your own ideas and opinions about the information.
Note-Taking Methods Cornell Method - Divide your paper into four sections:
Cornell Method Google Doc Template Annotating - Marking a text while reading to highlight key information and record questions you have. Outlining - structured notes where the main ideas are closest to the left margin of the page and you indent subtopics or connected ideas. Note Cards and Source Cards - Use index cards to record and organize information. This method makes it easy to change the order of info; you just simply shuffle the cards. Concept Mapping - Representing key ideas visually. A flow-chart, Venn diagram and family tree are examples of concept mapping. |
